As head of the Xue-heng Institute for Advanced Studies, Sun Jiang received his Ph.D. in 1999 from the University of Tokyo and is now Distinguished Professor of History and Political Science at Nanjing University. His recent research interests include conceptual history of East Asia and historical memories. He is the author of The Revolution and Secret Societies in Modern China: A Social History of the Chinese Revolution 1895-1955 (2007), Religion, Society and Power in Modern China (2012), Reviewing China’s “Modernity”: Between Thoughts and Society (2018).
