Wazi is full Professor of Archaeology in the Department of Archaeology and Heritage Studies and the current Dean of the School of Arts, College of Humanities. He holds a BA degree (Archaeology with History) and MPhil degree (Archaeology) from the University of Ghana. He also holds a doctoral degree (Archaeological Anthropology) from University of Binghamton, New York. He later held a Senior Postdoctoral Fellowship under Volkswagen Foundation Grant for Humanities in Africa at the University of Ghana, Legon. Prior to his appointment at the University, he worked as an Adjunct Assistant Professor/Frederick Douglass Teaching Scholar at the Department of Anthropology, Bloomsburg University in the USA. His research engagements and current projects include the Gonja Archaeological Project; Coastal Volta Enslaved Route Project (CVERP); Archaeology of Slavery in the Southern Volta Areas of Ghana Project; Palace and Community Slave Museum Projects at Adafienu, Hedzranawo, Denu and Aflao in the Volta Region of Ghana Project; Marine Drive Salvage Archaeology Project; Archaeology of German Missionary and Colonial Heritage in the Volta Project and Tamale Dabari Archaeological Project.
