Faik Kurtulmus is Assistant Professor of Philosophy at Sabancı University. He received his DPhil in Political Theory from the University of Oxford in 2010. He works on issues that lie at the intersection of political philosophy, social epistemology, and philosophy of science, such as justice in the distribution of knowledge, freedom of expression and the role of science in democratic societies. His research has appeared in journals such as the British Journal for the Philosophy of Science, Synthese, Journal of Applied Philosophy, Episteme and Utilitas. Dr. Kurtulmus was awarded the Science Academy’s award for young researchers (BAGEP) in 2019. In 2023, he co-taught a seminar with Stephen John at the Department of History and Philosophy of Science as part of GHN’s Mobility Scheme. Currently he is working on a book about distributive epistemic justice with his colleague Gürol Irzık.
