Samuel is Senior Lecturer and Head of Department, Department of Archaeology and Heritage Studies, University of Ghana. He holds a BA degree (Archaeology with History), and a Master and Doctor of Philosophy degrees (Archaeology) from the University of Ghana. He is a Fellow of the University of Michigan African Presidential Scholars Award (UMAPS). He was a Visiting Assistant Professor at the University of Rochester, New York. He has attended many conferences, locally and internationally at which he presented academic papers. He has a modicum of experience with project management, including the implementation of the British Academy Award for an exhibition of Koma Research in Manchester, and his involvement in undertaking a number archaeological/cultural heritage impact assessments for many firms including African Environmental Research Consult; SAL Consult Ltd; NEMAS Environmental Consultancy Ltd; Traffic and Environmental Network; GeoSystems Ltd, among others. His key research interests are in Cultural Resource Management, Material Expressions of Culture (Art), Cultural/Heritage Tourism, Applied/Development Archaeology, the History of the Konkomba of Northern Ghana as well as the Komaland Terracotta Figurine Research Project.
